Condetti - NEW - Now open in Dokki

Condetti, a recently opened restaurant on Street 82 ( just round the corner from Abou Sid on Street 7 ), may not have the most central location in Maadi, but those prepared to make the journey over the Metro lines will be rewarded with wonderful food and great service in tasteful and comfortable surroundings.

An extensive menu, including a diet section, ensures a good choice for all, our group managed to sample a good cross-section and we were all hugely impressed, ingredients are fresh and the meals expertly prepared by Ahmed, his 18 years of training and experience in Italy really shows, our only criticism was of the starters, they were far too big!

Of the main dishes, all were excellent, all arrived at the same time - too rare an event in Cairo - the Gnocchi deserves a special mention, too often a dish that ends up being at 1 extreme or the other, here, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of bite, in a superb gorgonzola and spinach sauce.

Desserts were easily the best any of us have had in Cairo, often a course to be skipped on grounds of lack of flavour, here we sampled the brownies with ice cream, and sweet potato with whipped cream and caramel sauce, both excellent, a real treat for those with a sweet-tooth.

Service is calmly efficient, the waiters don't hover but always seem to be there when required.

There are too many places in Cairo that flatter to decieve, Condetti does not fall into that category for 2 very good reasons; firstly, the chef Ahmed and his team produce wonderful food, secondly, thanks to his extensive travels and research in Europe and America, Forty, the general manager, understands what constitutes a good dining experience and that poor customer service can wreck an otherwise perfectly good meal. Comments and suggestions are encouraged not for their p.r. value, but because he understands that he needs his customers' help if he is to realise his ambition of making Condetti an outstanding restaurant. This is a place that deserves to succeed.

I was told that this was some of the best food, if not the best in Cairo and was obviously skeptical. It was certainly the best sea food I have had in Cairo (starter and main) as well as a delicious cake made by the restaurant specialist chef! The service was impeccable and the decor is wonderful and tasteful with some refreshing table ideas created personally by the owner's wife. Ideal for romantic meals and large groups (seating 63 people inside and additional tables outside). Condetti opens from 7am for breakfast until 1am at night and is on road 82, just around Abu Sid / Tabasco on rd 7. They also have recently opened a restaurant in Dokki - definitely worth checking out!! Go when you are hungry as portions are large!

What an absolute delight. Afforded our last night in Egypt at this fantastic venue it was a night fit for a Pharaoh. Greeted at the door by the Head waiter and his team, we were swiftly shown to our table and seated upon plumply cusioned sofas. A refreshing zesty fruit sangria was served upon our arrival followed closely by the most extensive menu I have ever seen. The menu was to die for. Never have I seen such a wide and varied choice all on one menu. There really is something to suit every taste. Having finaly made our choice the sumptuous delights began to arrive. Genorous portions of artistcally presented and perfectly cooked food. Every melting mouthfull an absolute symphony of taste on the tongue. The service was ecellent, very attentive but not overburdening. A mere raising of an eyebrow or a courteous wave of the hand and your every wish was granted. I can't think of any other eating experiece to compare with experience of Condetti. An absolute must for those with a taste for excellence.

We ordered delivery from the Dokki branch yesterday and the food arrived piping-hot, within the time they quoted by a very nice delivery person. The food was value for money - big portions and good quality, and get this... they called after the order was delivered and we had finished eating, to see how the service and the food were! We will order from them again, without a doubt.
